REVIEW: Frank Body Shimmer Scrub

Hello hello hello!

I recently purchased the new limited addition ‘Frank Body Shimmer Scrub’ from their website. I haven’t seen that many reviews about this, so here is my thoughts and feeling about this scrub!

The main thing that attracted me to this product was that since it has ‘glow dust’ in (gold and silver glitter particles’, I was hoping that I would step out of the shower like a disco ball. Baby soft skin AND glittery? Yes please.

Throw shimmer –  not shade.

Ingredients

The thing that caught my eye with this product is not only is it vegan, but its also palm oil free, which is something I try my absolute best to avoid. The full list of ingredients are below!:

Sucrose (Sugar), Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Sodium Chloride (Salt), Coffea Arabica Seed Powder (Coffee), Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Fragrance (Parfum), Beta-Carotene, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide.

Packaging

Oh my god. The packaging for this was a-maz-ing. I’ve never seen anything/bought anything with this holographic packaging. Big big big win. The packet was small so easy to travel with and store, and also has a resealable top to stop it spilling everywhere. Just remember to do this straight after, as most of mine tipped into my bath…

Appearance and smell

I was quite surprised when I opened it up. I was expecting a dark colour scrub, due to it being ground coffee, with big bits of visible glitter in. The colour was a sandy colour, and I may be going blind, but I found it quite difficult to distinguish the difference between the actual scrub and the glitter particles. Also, I might be being greedy, but I found there wasn’t THAT much product. If I’m paying £15.95 for practically ground coffee and glitter, I’d like a bit more. But hey, the company does says ‘It’ll last as long as most men’.

I’ll be honest. The smell honestly wasn’t my favourite thing in the world. It smelt like coffee with a caramel syrup in, which surprised me as this are two of my favourite things in the world. I think without the caramel hint in it, and I would have been hooked.

It’ll last as long as most men.

Use

As I said before, there wasn’t too much in the bag, and with these type of scrubs, I like to use them by the handful. The texture is as you’d expect. Gritty. But with the product having the oils in, it clumped together, making it easier to remove and use.
I buffed it into my arms, and it CLEARLY was full with oils (It did make me feel like a slug at one point). I was expecting to see glitter all over me, like how you would after using a lush bath bomb, but I couldn’t really see anything due to the light reflecting off the oil and dazzling me.
I find that some scrubs are a nightmare to remove, so I was worried that this would be the same, but finally… Result! This came off super easy! I tried it in the bath and it just slid off as soon as I splashed it with water! I would say though that if you were to use this in the shower to be carful as you might end up slipping from the oils on the floor.

After thoughts

When I got out, I was still very very oily (I’m not too bothered by this, but I know a lot of people don’t like using oils as the feeling after can make you feel a bit gross). I did feel very moisturised, and it was only when it started to sink in, that I could see the reflect of the glitter. Personally, I think it would look amazing if you were having a photoshoot with bright lights, going to the beach, or anywhere that the lighting would be strong to catch the shimmer.

The smell did manage to stay around for a while, unlike other products that don’t seem to latch on. I got used to it quickly and soon found myself to like it!

Saying this, I’m not too sure if I would buy this scrub again. I have brought another coffee scrub from another brand before, and much prefer that one, even though the moisturising effect isn’t there, like it is with Frank.

Let me know if you have purchased this, and tell me what you thought!
