REVIEW: NIP+FAB Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads

On the 19th July, I received my first ever product from the Glamour Beauty Club! Ever since I got the email on the to say I had been accepted, I couldn’t wait for this to arrive!

Glamour Beauty Club is a free UK service where you sign up and fill out a questionnaire about your skin, and if you’re accepted, you receive different products throughout the year for you to try out. Can I repeat, this is a FREE SERVICE?! The only thing that Glamour Beauty Club ask in return is an honest review about the product you have received.

As soon as I saw the lovely Leilani‘s IG post about this club, I couldn’t WAIT to sign up, and pray I had been accepted.

Glycolic Fix Cleansing Pads

“I love Nip+Fab Glycolic Pads” – Kylie Jenner

It sounds ridiculous, but ever since I brought the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, which Miss Jenner showed in a Snapchat video, it’s been molded into my brain that anything that works for Kylie’s skin, must work for mine. I’m an idiot. I know. I’d actually be really interested to know if Kylie has the same skin type as myself, or it’s just pure luck that the Drying Lotion worked for us both.

‘Unveil younger-looking skin with our innovative Glycolic Fix. 60 radiance-boosting pads, soaked in exfoliating glycolic acid (2.8%) retexture + resurface skin whilst witch hazel helps to tone. This moisturising formula with hyaluronic acid + soothing blue daisy helps to reveal brighter + smoother looking skin.’

The pads are soaked in glycolic acid which help to retexture and resurface the skin, hyaluronic acid which moisturises and refreshes, and blue daisy which soothes and calms the skin.

Ingredients:

Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Glycolic Acid, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Hydroxide, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, Alcohol Denat. (SD Alcohol 40-B), Disodium EDTA, Globularia Alypum (Blue Daisy) Extract, Panthenol, Lactic Acid, Parfum, Limonene, Ethylhexylglycerin, Dehydroacetic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Linalool, Geraniol, Citral

In my sample, I recieved 10 individual pre-soaked pads. The packaging states that you can either use these once or twice a day, meaning that I would either use this for 5 or 10 days. I personally chose to use these twice a day.

About My Skin

I thought it would be quite important to let you know what my skin type is so that you will be able to see if these would be suitable for yourself. Glamour Beauty Club hand-selects products for each of their members (hence why you have to fill in a questionnaire when signing up), so you may not receive the same product as your friend does.

My skin type is very oily, but also with the occasional dry patch and very acne prone. I also have psoriasis (mainly on my scalp, chest and arms), and my skin is very touch and go. I can go months without seeing a single blemish, to then having months were I want to rip my face off. This makes me extremely nervous to try out new products since I never know how my skin will react, but I’ll try out anything that may end up as my number 1.

I will be writing a more in-depth post about my skin, so that you can have more of an understanding of why some products I review may work better than others do.

I also do think it’s worth mentioning that I stopped using my Pixi Glow Tonic whilst using the pads, which did worry me a lot since my skin bloody loves Glow Tonic.

“Loving these glycolic pads! They exfoliate the skin to create the perfect base for makeup” – Mario Dedivanovic

Review

Day 1

I was expecting these to be quite drying, but I haven’t felt any tightness so far. The pads actually feel quite soapy to me, and are full of product. I hate it when cleansing pads have hardly any product on them, so definitely please about that.

Day 2

I’ve woken up feeling oiler than normal. This could be that I tried a different cleanser out yesterday, but I’m not convinced. I’m going to stop using that cleanser, and just stick to what I usually use for now, so that I can see if it is the pads causing the oil, or it was just the cleanser.

Day 3

The oiliness stopped! Demoting the cleanser from my bathroom shelf, to the bin.

Day 4

I actually felt super ill and forgot to use these… I’m a disgrace, I know.

Day 5

I currently am having THE WORST breakout. I’m pretty sure it’s due to the fact I have a virus right now, but I’m not sure.

Day 6 (Since I missed day 4)

Nothing really new apart from the fact I am LOVING these. My skin looks super smooth (minus the spots), and feels really hydrated, but isnt oily in the slightest which is something that my skin hasnt been in ages.

Final Thoughts & Feelings

Even though I am breaking out to SHIT, I bloody love these. Since you’re meant to test out new skin care products for 28 days, I can’t 100% say if it’s these that have caused me to break out, or its due to the fact I have a virus (I always break out when I have a cold).

It sounds stupid since my face is currently covered in volcanoes, but my skin tone looks really smoothed out, and the same colour. They also never made my skin feel dry (which I was expecting), and actually make my skin feel super hydrated and calm. Thanks hyaldrolic acid. I owe you one.

Despite being super oily on day 2, I do think that my usual oil slick of a face has calmed down. I apply Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion most nights, and usually find that when wake up, the majority of the pink lotion has slid off of my face. Not anymore. NIP+FAB, you’ve done me proud.

I will add though that I was really not a fan of the packaging. To me, it felt really cheap and I felt like it could easily open if I were to travel with these.

Would I Repurchase?

I am actually considering swapping my Pixi Glow Tonic with these. Since I don’t have any of the pads left, it will be interesting to see if my acne flare calms down. I think that will be the deal breaker for me. But then again, I am getting over this virus. For now, I think I’ll go back to the Glow Tonic, purely because I still have 3/4 of a bottle left, but I think I will be buying these after I’ve used it all up.

Also, I am going to keep my little sample tub, just incase I do repurchase this. I’d rather take a small little container for a weekend away, rather than a big ol’ tub.

EDIT: It’s now been about 2 weeks since I finished using this product. Despite how hydrating these were, my skin completely calmed down once I started using the Pixi Glow Tonic again, and now I’m pretty much spot free. Sorry NIP+FAB, but I won’t be repurchasing!

You can purchase 60 of the NIP+FAB Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads for £12.95, and are available to buy at nipandfab.com and Boots.

Have you ever tried any of the Nip + Fab skin care range out? What were your thoughts?

  2. Glamour Beauty Club sounds amazing! I think I’m going to have to sign up now! I’d never tried anything from Nip and Fab before, but I picked the travel mini version of these up last week (the travel version only contains 5 pads) and I loved them! They obviously ran out extremely quickly but I think I’m going to have to repurchase them! I’d love to try the Pixi Glow Tonic as well because I’ve heard good things about it! xxx
