September 2017 Makeup Collection & Storage + Organisation Tips

I FINALLY got my new furniture and decorated my room!!

I think it’s the first time I’ve ever been really happy with my room!

I’ve promised this post for so long now, and finally thought it was time to post it! I will say that I’m still not 100% happy with it all and I need a trip to IKEA ASAP to get some cutlery trays and fingers crossed i’ll fall in love with it!

Overview

I brought the MALM 6 drawer storage unit since not only does it match the rest of my furniture (minus the wardrobe), but it also is very similar to the ALEX 9 drawers which is pretty much what every beauty blogger owns.

I am in love with how it looks and how much they can store!

On The Top

There isn’t too much going on at the top. I have 3 copper Moscow mule cups holding all my brushes in, the DIY: Candle Jar Container that I made for my cotton pads, a big ass Pixi Glow Tonic, Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, Zoella’s Gelat’eau Body Mist and a little fake plant which I believeeeee I got from New Look.

You can actually lift the top up to reveal a mirror and another small storage space, but I currently don’t have anything in there.

First Drawer

The first drawer holds all my tools, glitters, beauty blenders, q-tips, cotton pads and a whole bunch of other bits and bobs. Everyone needs a drawer like this!!

Second Drawer

Like the first drawer, this isn’t that exciting… I keep my everyday skincare products (minus the Pixi Skin Tonic since it’s too big) and primers and setting sprays.

Favourite Products – Mario Badescu Facial Spray, Benefit The Porefessional and Aveeno Cream.

Third Drawer

Finally! The makeup starts!

In the bottom three containers (left to right), I keep my brow products, liquid eyeliners and mascaras.

In the middle section, I have single eyeshadows on the left and pencil and shadow sticks on the right.

In the back, I keep my most used eyeshadow palettes so that they’re easy to reach.

Favourite Products – Meech & Mia Browliner, NYX Brights eyeliners, L’Oreal Paris Paradise Extatic Mascara & Pixi X ItsJudyTime eyeshadow palette.

Forth Drawer

This drawer drives me insane.

At the front on the left hand side, I keep my foundations and concealers, and then my powders on the right, with concealer palettes slotted behind.

Behind that, on the left I keep my bronzers and blushes, and then highlighting, bronzer and blush palettes, with highlighters at the front on the right.

Favourite Products – Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, RCMA powder & Kylie Costmeics Loose Pigment Highlighters

Fifth Drawer

Ohh I do love a lip product.

At the front I have a lip mask, lip balms and treatments, and chubby sticks.

Behind that, I keep my lipsticks and lip glosses, with lip liners by the side.

Favourite Products – MAC – Nicki’s Nude, Kylie Cosmetic – Send Me Nudes Collection & Dior – 540.

Sixth Drawer

Last, but by no means least, my eyeshadow palettes.

These are the ones that are either too big to fit in my ‘eye’ drawer, or I just don’t grab for as much as the others.

Favourite Products – Manly 120 Palette & Makeup Revolution Redemption Iconic 3

Tips

  • Keep food takeaway boxes to store products in. Just make sure they’re all cleaned out first!
  • Like the takeaway boxes, keep all of your subscription boxes to store products in.
  • Throw out all old makeup that has passed its expiry date
  • Organise your products by what you use first.
  • Get rid of your ‘every day’ makeup bag, and just pick up things from your whole collection to make sure that you’re using different products and getting use out of them all!
  • Sell/donate any bits and pieces you don’t need.
  • Depot your products in pans, and move them over into a z-palette
  • Use cutlery trays to organise your products
  • Use ice-cube molds to store individual eyeshadows
