Top 10 Favourite Movies

My Sisters Keepermy-sisters-keeper.16048-2.jpg

Anna Fitzgerald looks to earn medical emancipation from her parents who until now have relied on their youngest child to help their leukemia-stricken daughter Kate remain alive.

I actually brought the book of this to read before I watched the film, but unfortunately I never got around to it, and ended up watching the film first. Despite the seriousness and the sadness of this film, it gave me a lot of mixed emotions. Happiness, sadness, anger, confusion… I won’t spoil the film incase you haven’t watched it, but I definitely recommend it. Just make sure you have tissues near by.

Titanicmza_8545322344390614507.jpg

A seventeen-year-old aristocrat falls in love with a kind but poor artist aboard the luxurious, ill-fated R.M.S. Titanic.

Titanic will always be my number one film. I couldn’t tell you how many times I have watched this. Just be aware that you should NEVER watch this film with me since I know the whole script off by heart and will sit there and say it along with them. #sorrynotsorry

Grease

Grease-1978-movie-poster.jpg

Good girl Sandy and greaser Danny fell in love over the summer. When they unexpectedly discover they’re now in the same high school, will they be able to rekindle their romance?

I love this film so much. Not only do I love the sassy Sandy that comes out at the end, but the songs will never get old for me. Even though this is one of my favourites, I will agree that the ending is ridiculous. Why ruin such a good film with them in a flying car?! But, there are some crazy good conspiracy theories about it…

Mulan

To save her father from death in the army, a young maiden secretly goes in his place and becomes one of China’s greatest heroines in the process.

Erm, hello?! How could you not love this film?! Mulan is such a badass. If I were to be any Disney character, I’d want to be her.

The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas

Set during WWII, a story seen through the innocent eyes of Bruno, the eight-year-old son of the commandant at a German concentration camp, whose forbidden friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence has startling and unexpected consequences.

No matter how many times I watch this film, I will sob uncontrollably for at least half an hour afterwards. I give you all permission to come off of this post and watch it.

To The Bone

ToTheBone-800x445.jpg

A young woman is dealing with anorexia. She meets an unconventional doctor who challenges her to face her condition and embrace life.

I know this film is new, but it quickly has made home in my favourites list. Despite this film getting a whole bunch of hate, I actually didn’t see an issue with it. Yes, I am fully aware that it may be triggering for some, but it does clearly state at the start of the film that it is. I loved Eli’s personality, and even though it was hard to watch, I’m glad they put some of the more brutal aspects of an eating disorder in the film.

Perks Of Being A Wallflower

An introvert freshman is taken under the wings of two seniors who welcome him to the real world.

Yes, I’ll admit that I first watched this because of Emma Watson. I could watch this film over and over again, and still be as interested.

Girl, Interrupted

Based on writer Susanna Kaysen’s account of her 18-month stay at a mental hospital in the 1960s.

I’m kind of realising that my favourite films aren’t all sunshine and rainbows. This was recommended to me ages ago, and I decided to give it ago, and boy am I glad I did. This film stars some incredibly talented actors, and it’s definitely worth a watch.

Mean Girls

Cady Heron is a hit with The Plastics, the A-list girl clique at her new school, until she makes the mistake of falling for Aaron Samuels, the ex-boyfriend of alpha Plastic Regina George.

I feel ashamed to put this on my list since it’s not really ‘fetch’ anymore, but I cannot help it. I fucking love this film and I always will. It reminds me so much of my school, apart from someone getting hit by a bus, but I just can’t stop watching it!

Remember Me

A romantic drama centered on two new lovers: Tyler, whose parents have split in the wake of his brother’s suicide, and Ally, who lives each day to the fullest since witnessing her mother’s murder
Okay, if you haven’t watched this, don’t. It will honestly destroy you. Again, I cry every single time at the film, and I think I always will. It was so cleverly put together, and the actors are perfect for the roles.
What’s your favourite films that I should check out?

  1. I love my sister’s keeper I got halfway through the book and I stopped because I watched the film first, I can clearly see the differences and the things the movie did not include. So now if I watch the film first I’m won’t read the book.

Watch Gimme Shelter, it is such a great movie and I personally think Vanessa Hudgens did a phenomenal job in it.

  2. Although you’ve already seen My Sister’s Keeper and obviously loved it, I definitely recommend that you read the book if you already haven’t! It’s completely different and 10x better than the movie, in my opinion, because the movie misses so many small details that play into the whole plot. Either way, such a great story! Be sure to have a box of tissues near you if you do end up reading it.

  6. My Sister’s Keeper is so sad. I got sick a few months after watching this movie for the first time and my mom threw it out. Haha. I have seen all of these movies except Grease, Titanic, and Girl Interrupted. I am a Huge Perks fan.

    1. Hey Taylor! I’ve just checked out your blog now, and wanted to say how brave you are. I love how even though you’ve fought the battle twice, you’re still smiling. You got this! Definitely check out Grease, Titanic and Girl Interrupted when you get the chance! They’re amazing films!
