Recently, I’ve really started to love skincare products (even more than before). I’ve already got a pretty solid facial skincare routine, but I’ve been diving into the world of body care. Exfoliators, moisturisers, shower gels, body conditioners, you name it, I’m most likely giving it a go. Whilst snooping through my bathroom drawers, I re-discovered a brand called Simply Beautiful Collection. SBC has been a firm favourite in my household for a while now, and decided this was the perfect time to try out some of their other products.
This post is in collaboration with Simply Beautiful Collection (SBC)
Simply Beautiful Collection was founded in 1988. With 30 years of experience, SBC sure know their stuff when it comes down to skin and body care.
They pride themselves on being fuss-free, practical, effective and affordable, and I can completely agree with their statement. Simply Beautiful Collection are one of the truly amazing brands that create products that goes beyond any expectations, all without breaking the bank.
The brand uses the finest quality and naturally derived ingredients, meaning that none of the products are filled with nasty chemicals which could ultimately damage your skin. This also makes them ideal to use on any aged skin.
It’s also worth noting that the brand introduced a no animal testing policy for their gels and bath care products.
“An invigorating and refreshing exfoliating body wash for cleaner, smoother, more energised skin. A botanical infusion of stimulating Grapefruit, spicy Ginger, refining Jojoba Wax Beads and purifying Elderflower combine to gently buff away impurities for a healthier looking skin. A herbal tonic of Ivy, Nettle and Fennel creates a toning vitamin and antioxidant-rich care for revitalised, even and healthy skin. Recommended for all skin types, except sensitive.”
With summer just around the corner, I knew for sure that I wanted to try out their Grapefruit & Ginger Exfoliating Body Wash.
I suffer with the dreaded lizard looking legs and bacne – two things that are definitely not on my summer menu. Luckily, this body wash is going to rid my body of those two things.
The Jojoba Wax Beads are the main ingredient that’s most important to me. Not only does it gently exfoliate dead, scaly skin, but it also to give my pores a good ol’ clear out, banishing my bacne. Result.
For all my fake fan lovers out there, this is going to become your new best friend (next to a bottle of Bondi Sands of course). The beads are going to prepare your skin, making your fake tan application look smooth and natural. I feel like a lot of people are worried to use an exfoliator once their tan has been on a few days, and this is where people are going wrong. To avoid looking like a human tiger bread, make sure you’re scrubbing away still, so that your tan can fade together, and not in patches.
The scent of the exfoliating body wash is exactly how it sounds. The grapefruit creates a fresh, invigorating scent, whilst also having the underlying hint of the warm and spicy ginger.
I adore how clean this product makes me feel. I tend to use this all over my body, paying extra attention to my legs. I like to use this before shaving my legs, then once again after I’ve shaved, and then shave for the second time. If your skin isn’t used to using an exfoliator wouldn’t recommend exfoliating twice straight away, but if your skin is already used to a good scrubbing, be prepared for your legs to feel like literal aubergines (or eggplants for all you Americans out there).
“This versatile oil is designed to create a light protective barrier, locking in moisture, leaving your skin satin-smooth and delicately scented. The subtle blend of moisture-boosting Cotton Seed, soothing Oat Kernel and smoothing Wheat Germ oils unite with refining Vitamin E to unveil a smoother, ultra-supple skin. Suitable for all the family, including babies, this conditioning oil provides natural care for delicate skin. Dermatologically tested, 100% allergen-free fragrance.”
Before trying this, I had a serious issue with most body oils. I’ve tried my fair share in the past, and apart from the NUXE Dry Oil Huile Prodigieuse, I’ve found them all to be extremely greasy feeling.
I wanted a light oil, that absorbed quickly and didn’t leave me feeling like a slug for the next 8 hours, and I think I’ve finally found one.
The first thing that attracted me to this oil was the fact it was cotton scented. I adore candles that smell of cotton, but I had never seen a cotton scented beauty product before. If you’re wondering what on earth cotton smells like, imagine babies, fresh sheets and hot summer days all merged into one.
Originally, I had just planned to use this as an oil to use as a body moisturiser on dry skin, but I was pleasantly surprised that it can be used more than one way.
- For bath: add 10ml to a running bath and soak for 20 minutes.
- For shower: apply all over body whilst taking a shower.
- For body: after having a bath or shower, apply to wet skin and pat dry.
If you’re skin is extra dry and you feel it needs something else, you can also use a cream/lotion body moisturiser after applying this. Simply Beautiful Collection also have a Cotton Body & Hand Lotion if you want to stick to the same scent.
I will say it is a little pricey for what it is, but since you don’t need to use a lot of the oil at one time, it’s going to last a good 3+ months. I tend to use this after a shower or bath in the evening, and then use the Body Sculpt Everyday Body Gel in the mornings.
“A luxurious bath and shower crème to revitalise dull and tired skin. Rich in fruit acids, this deep cleansing crème helps impart brighter skin while offering calming care for stressed areas. Anti-oxidents and vitamins provide nourishing moisture for smoother, supple skin while added Pomegranate delivers a revitalising, aromatic experience. Recommended for dull and sallow complexions to reveal a fresher and more vibrant appearance.”
For some reason, I had it in my head that this bath and shower crème would be more appropriate for the winter time, but how wrong was I.
I think due to it being cranberry scented, my mind instantly turned to cranberry sauce, which then turned into roast dinners. Can you tell I’m a foodie yet?
The raspberry and cranberry scent works ridiculously well together. It actually makes my mouth water when I give this a wiff. Think sweets and ice lollies.
Not only does this smell good enough to eat (please don’t actually give this a taste), but it also has loads of wonderful ingredients.
I love how long lasting the scent is, but it also makes my skin feel incredibly soft and clean. It bubbles up a ton, so you only need to use a few pumps for your whole body.
The packaging of this is also a big plus for me. I definitely prefer bottles with pumps, rather than ones you have to squeeze out like the exfoliating body scrub.
“A targeted body gel infused with stimulating coffee, red algae and marine lotus extracts. These combine with antioxidant-rich ginkgo biloba for a more hydrated, smoother and even-looking skin. Use daily as part of the Simply Beautiful Collection Body Sculpt regime and partner with a healthy life-style for effective results.”
I think the main thing that put me off using a body moisturiser is how greasy some feel and how long they take to soak in.
I had never seen or even heard of the Body Sculpt Gel, so when I saw it on the website, I instantly knew it was something I wanted to try out. I mean, who could resist this when these are the listed key benefits?:
• Daily maintenance
• Firms and tones
• Smooths and tones
• Ideal for stubborn, sluggish areas
• Daily massage
• Menthol offers the cooling effect
• Contains green coffee
My legs aren’t as toned as I’d like, so I’ve been slapping this on twice daily and keeping my fingers crossed. Whilst I haven’t noticed any improvement yet (it is still early days), this is possibly my new favourite summer product.
The gel is extremely light weight, and soaks in so fast, but that’s not even my favourite part.
Due to the menthol in the gel, when you apply this, it feels instantly coooling and refreshing. If you’ve ever used the Original Source Mint & Tea Tree shower gel, then you’ll know exactly how this feels.
Whilst it hasn’t been mentioned, I have a feeling this would be absolutely incredible as an after sun. Since I’m still taking a cocktail of medication, I’m more prone to sun burn. I’m definitely getting myself a little travel sized bottle and popping this in my handbag!
Have you ever tried anything from Simply Beautiful Collection?
