BLOGMAS | 5 Ways To Save Money This Christmas

Everyone knows that Christmas is a pricey time of year. Extra electricity bills, present buying, food shopping and buying a ridiculous amount of de-icer can all really add up. Here are my favourite ways to save money this Christmas.

Wrapping Paper

Not only does this save you a lot of money, but it saves you a hell of a lot of time. Everyone wants their presents to look aesthetically pleasing, but what’s the point in spending lots of money on paper, just for it to be thrown away? No, I’m not going to suggest you throw everything in an orange Sainsbury’s bag, but to use foil instead. Cheap as chips, and also involves zero use of taping. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

Boxing Day/January Sales

I get ridiculously excited for the winter sales and always end up spending way too much, but with such a huge discount on some items, it’s hard to resist.

To save money, you need to be stubborn with yourself, and NOT get sucked in by that 50% off sticker. If you really can’t help but make a few cheeky purchases, pick up a few items for your friends and family for either next christmas, or to give to those you won’t be seeing for a while after Christmas. It’ll be our little secret.

DIY presents are honestly the most adorable things ever. I’m constantly scrolling through Pinterest and seeing all these beautiful handmade gifts. Want to save money, but give a super personal present? Get your glue stick out, and get to work! Not into arts and crafts? Get your chef hat on and bake some tasty Christmas goodies.

Fake It ‘Till You Make It

I don’t think I’ve ever had a real Christmas tree. As much as I would love to have a real tree, I couldn’t deal with the mess, and having to buy a new one every single year.

Our tree has lasted us bloody years, and it still looks good as new.

Samples & Freebies

You know them little samples or magazine freebies that seem to pop up everywhere? Save them all! Keep collecting them all year round, and then pop them in a little basket for a super cute hamper.

The best magazines for freebies: Marie Claire, Elle, Tatler & Bazzar
