Primark PS… Love To Glow Face Mask Review

If you saw my recent Primark beauty haul, you will have seen I picked up the PS… Love To Glow Face Mask. This was the first skin care product that I’ve ever tried from Primark, and even though I wasn’t expecting it to be a holy grail product, I did have quite high expectations since a few of their makeup products have definitely outshined some of the high-end brands I have. But, how well will the PS… Love To Glow Face Mask work?

‘A rich luxurious exfoliating face mask, to help smooth, soften and brighten dull tired skin.’

The first thing that initially drew me into this mask was the fact it has Morrocan Clay & Himalayan Bamboo Charcoal in. It also says this mask is exfoliating, smoothing, purifying and brightening. What more could you want?!

After I brought this, I did a little bit of research of the mask, I soon discovered it was an apparent dupe for one of the Glamglow face masks! Apparently the Love To Glow face mask was flying off the shelfs as soon as people were discovering that this may save them a good £30/40!

Price & Weight

For £3.00, you receive 50ml (1.69 US Fl. Oz) of the face mask. Not too shabby must I say! Especially considering 50ml of the Youthmud mask from Glamglow will set you back £42…

Ingredients

Aqua (Water), Kaolin, Glycerin, Magnesium Aluminium Silicate, Pumice, Moroccan Lava Clay, Polysorbate 20, Phenoxyethanol, Caramel, Xanthan Gum, Caprylyl Gycolic, Parfum (Fragrance), Chlorphenesin, Charcoal Powder, Disodium EDTA, Punica Granatum Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate, Gerniol, Citronellol.

Packaging

The mask is packaged in a cardboard pink and grey outer box, with the products ingredients and claims on. The actual mask is stored in a glass tub with a silver plastic lid.

Personally, I’m quite a fan of the packaging. It also feels a little bit more expensive than £3 due to the fact it’s in a glass pot aswell.

Scent

I couldn’t find much out about what it’s meant to be scented like, but to me, it just smells a bit like mens shaving cream. I really like the smell of it, but I’m not too sure how relaxing it would be.

Texture

This took me by surprise.

Even though it says it is exfoliating, I still wasn’t expecting it to be as gritty as this is.

As much as I do love an exfoliator, I’m not too keen on how sharp and rough this one is. Also, I’m slightly confused about how much exfoliating this will be doing since it is a mask, and not a scrub.

Application

‘Apply a thin layer to clean, wet skin. Leave for 10 minutes and remove with warm water.’

I think this was the first face mask I had tried that you have to apply it to wet skin, so firstly that seemed a bit alien to me. Apart from being freaked out by applying to wet skin, the mask went on all nice and smoothly.

Performance

So far, sounds good right?!

This is where things went wrong.

Within a minute, I found my face feel like it was burning. I don’t class my skin as sensitive what so ever, but this seemed as if I had just rubbed stinging nettles all over my face.

Also, it’s actually quite interesting how this is meant to be a dupe of the Glamglow face masks since they gave me the same reaction as this did… You can read the full review of that HERE.

I washed it off the Love To Glow face mask straight away, and even though my skin surprisingly wasn’t red, it felt as if it was on fire.

On the bright side, even after leaving this on for less than a minute, my skin DID feel soft?! I’m still not too sure what’s going on with that…

Sorry Primark skin care, but this is a no from me.

Have any of you tried the PS… Love To Glow face mask? What did you think?
