I recently discovered a service with Feel Unique, where you can choose up to 5 FREE samples of your choice, and only pay for postage which is £3.95 (you get an email with a £3.95 discount code in after you place your first order). I went on a big ol mask spree, and brought a lot of different ones to try out and the Herborist Tai Chi Masks was one of those I picked up.
In the sample box, you receive two different masks – one black mask, and also a white mask.
Originally, I thought that they were two separate products, but it actually is a two step system. I’ve never used a two part mask before, so I was actually pretty excited to try this out one.
Herborist Tai Chi Masks Review
Massage on the black mask, leave on for 5 minutes, then rinse with warm water and a sponge. While skin is still damp, apply the white mask following the massage method, and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse Herborist T’ai Chi Mask with warm water and a sponge.
‘The black mask works to detoxify and draw out impurities with bamboo charcoal while the white mask nourishes, soothes and boost radiance thanks to peony.’
With this in mind, I was expecting to notice clearer and soft skin after using this.
Now, since mine a sample, it’s not how the packaging usually looks like. For me, I didn’t have any problems with the packaging of the sample though. You get two separate tubes of the mask which I prefer over the sachets you usually get sent.
The packaging on the full sized product is beautiful though. I love the design of both the inside and outside, but it may be difficult to get all the product out.
I got my sample for around 0.79p for 10g of product in each tube, which is pretty good. I used maybe half of my sample, so I’ll get at least 2 uses out of this.
For the full sized pot, it’s going to cost you the hefty price of £59 for 290g. I would NEVER pay that much for a mask, unless it gave me the most perfect skin, and removed all of my acne.

Like the directions said, you use the black mask first and leave on for 5 minutes, wash it off, then apply the white mask and leave on for 10 minutes before washing off.
The black mask for me didn’t really do that much unfortunately. I wasn’t expecting to see results straight away, but even after a few days, I didn’t really notice that much improvement of my spots which is what it claimed to do.
please ignore how yellow it made my teeth look
The white mask was meant to nourish, soothe and boost radiance.
After the 10 minutes, I washed this off to discover that my skin did feel really really soft and hydrated. Win. Unfortunately though, this was the only thing it did
It also doesn’t taste very nice. Trust me.
Yes, the packaging is nice and it did make my skin feel super soft, but that was the only thing it did for me.
Like the Glamglow masks, I’m glad I didn’t like this due to its high price tag. If this was drugstore price, I’d likely pick this up again for the times when my skins feeling dry, but this is rarely a problem for me.
Would I Repurchase This?
No way. £60 to get soft skin? No thanks. Perhaps if dry skin is your biggest skin concern, then it may work for you, but unfortunately, it didn’t for me. Sorry Herborist!
