I’m a big fan of beauty hacks. Any sort really. Throughout the years, I’ve just about tried them all, and wanted to share my top 15 beauty hacks with you all!
- Speed Up Your Nail Varnish Drying Time
After you paint your nails, either run your nails under a cold tap, or place them in a bowl of ice water!
- Remove Makeup Stains With Shaving Cream
I am forever getting foundation and lipstick marks on my clothes. All you need to do is rub in some shaving cream, and pop them in the wash! They’ll come out good as new!
- Revive Your Dried Mascara
Everyones had the dreaded morning of waking up, and their mascara has dried out. Luckily, there are ways to revive them again! Either pop your mascara in a cup of hot water, and/or pour in a few drops of contact solution! The hot water will cause the product to melt slightly, and the contact solution will wetten the mascara up!
- Use Baby Powder For Oily Hair
Being the only one in my household to actually buy dry shampoo, I’m forever running out. Use baby powder instead for the same effect! Just remember to put it on lightly, as you don’t want it to look obvious!
- Get That Beach Looking Hair!
Grab yourself a spray bottle, and pour in a cup of hot water, 1-2 tsp of sea salt, a couple of drops of argon oil (optional) and a nice smelling condition (also optional). The sea salt itself will give you that wavy, textured hair, whilst the argon oil will condition your hair, as well as the conditioner, which will also make your hair smell gorgeous! Just be carful with how much oil and conditioner you put in, as you don’t want your hair to look greasy!
- Stop Lipstick From Getting On Your Teeth
This one I use every day. When you’ve applied your lipstick, suck on your index finger, and pull it out slowly (not a euphemism). The excess product will stick to your finger, and not your teeth!
- Never ‘Pump’ Your Mascara
I learnt this from my mama. Never keep pumping your mascara wand into the product to get more onto your brush. Always swivel the wand inside. This stops extra air from drying out your mascara!
- Use E3 For Bronzing!
This was properly one of the first hacks I ever learnt. When first experimenting with bronzer, its difficult to know where to place it. Place your bronzer in the shape of the number 3, and then the letter E for the other side!
- Make Your Own Tinted Moisturiser
Theres days where you don’t want to wear a full face of makeup, but still want a little coverage. Mix together your usual foundation with your moisturiser so that you still get some cover, but it looks natural!
- Get Your Lipstick To Last Longer
After you have applied your makeup, place a tissue over your lips, and brush on some translucent powder. This not only mattes your lipstick, but makes it last a hell of a lot longer! Win win for me!
- Change Your Pillow Cases Every Other Day
I mentioned this one in my skincare tips post. Changing your pillow cases everyday reduces the amount of oils and dirt being added back onto your skin! Think of how much you sweat and product oil in the night, which then is getting soaked up on your pillow cases. It’s gross.
- Strengthen Your Eyelashes With Oils
I discovered this one without even meaning too. I used to put Vaseline onto my eyelashes (thanks to Georgia from Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging), which I hated. I then started removing my makeup with coconut oil and using argon oil as my moisturiser (and put it onto my eyes). My eyelashes grew something incredible! They’re now a lot stronger and healthier!
- Use Dry Shampoo At Night
It’s always seems that my hair washing days never fall on the days when I have plans. Use dry shampoo at night, which will soak up all the oils as you sleep. It also means you won’t wake up with the white powder patches that you get straight after using it…
- Banish Tired Looking Eyes
Luckily, there are different ways to make your eyes look like you’ve finally had a good nights sleep. Keeping teaspoons in the freezer overnight, and pop them on your eyes in the morning! Also, after drinking a cup of green tea, keep the teabag, wait for it to cool, and place them on your eyes. Say bye-bye to tired eyes!
- Fix Broken Makeup
Nothing is more heartbreaking than dropping your favourite powder and it smashes everywhere. WAIT! Don’t throw it away! Pour a few drops of rubbing alcohol into the pan, and press down with a coin wrapped in a tissue. Leave to dry over night, and it will be good as new in the morning!
