More and more people are now making a living online or freelancing. This means that they need a space in their home that they can dedicate to idea generation, working, writing, designing, and sometimes procrastinating for hours on end.
If you have children, and all of the bedrooms are occupied, it can be pretty tricky to find a space to use. However, here are a few ideas to get that space you are looking for.

The Nook
Rather than take over a whole room, look around the house for nooks that could accommodate a desk and perhaps some small storage. Most often, you will find working nooks in the kitchen, bedroom, or living room. Something to consider is how busy that room can get and if you can simply invest in some noise-canceling headphones when you need to focus for a while.
Outside
There is an opportunity to create something in the garden. Many people opt to have a shed built for the purpose. Although it may take some time for you to get it to the standard that you need, and you will have to ensure it is waterproof before you go and add a lot of electrical items, once it is done it is more than worth it. In fact, many writers and creative find it very worthwhile to have a small space away from the home. It helps to separate the home and working life – which in turn can aid to the balance that we all so long for.
Extension
A permanent and perfect solution. Extending your house will create extra space is usually more than one room. From conservatories to loft extensions, a house extension will give you more options than you know what to do with. It is essential, though, that when you make the decision to go for an extension, you always remember what you need from this. If you can extend the living room but then also create a dedicated office – then do it.
Guest Room
If you have a guest room or a spare room, it might be time to work out how often it is used and compare that with how often you will be using it as an office. It is a tough one because most people who have a guest bedroom have one so that they can invite their loved ones over for a while. So, a great solution here is to have a guest bed that either folds away or purchase a sofa that turns into a bed. The latter will make it so that you will still feel like this is your office, but it is ready at a moments notice for people who want to stay over.
A space for working is essential when you work from home. Being able to work somewhere that is just for you, without noise, children running back and forth, and knowing that the moment you step into that space your intention is to work means, you will always have the divide between your time and work time.
