When it comes to our homes, we all want to be able to make sure that they’re the most attractive spaces that they could possibly be. However, that can often be much more of a challenge that a lot of people realise. It can often be rather discouraging to look through the pages of a home magazine or at an interior design blog and see homes that look far more interesting and attractive than your own. It’s tempting to blame that on your own abilities or something inherent to your property. However, the answer is often a whole lot more simple than that. A lot of the time when people struggle to really make the most of their home, the issue is simply that they haven’t been able to find a style that’s right for it. Far too often people try to mix and match various styles and it just never quite comes together. With that in mind, here are some styles to help to figure out which is going to be right for you and your home.
Rustic
Rustic homes went through something of a major resurgence over the last decade or so. That “shabby chic” look is something that a lot of people were constantly trying to achieve in order to get away from the harsh, urban landscapes that so many of us live in. Rustic homes are all about a sort of naturalistic style that isn’t too concerned with everything being precise and perfect. It’s often a style that tries to create a feeling that your home just sort of grew out of the ground by itself. Lots of distressed wooden furniture and natural colours help to make any home feel like your very own countryside cottage.
Bohemian
Of course, if you want to go for something that just has a wonderfully luxurious feel to it, then a bohemian style to your home might well be perfect. If a rustic style is naturalistic, a bohemian home is closer to organised chaos. It should feel like everything has just been tossed to one side and just happened to land in the perfect place. Lots of rich colours and bold patterns give this style a wonderfully eastern style that is incredibly attractive to a lot of people. Of course, the incense and whalesong are optional.
Classical European
Maybe instead of the relaxed style of a rustic or bohemian home, you want to bring some class into your property. A classical European style is one that really does ooze class in every way. It’s all about the contrasts between bringing in lots of natural light and filling your home with elegant, dark wood and leather furnishings. This is a style that often relies on you keeping your home tidy but it can be one of the most beautifully elegant interior styles possible.
Ultra modern
If you want to go even further than that, you might want to try embracing the ultra-modern minimalist style of a lot of modern designers. This is a style that emphasises clean lines, and natural light. You don’t want to be filling your home with huge amounts of junk or lots of contrasting patterns. It’s also a style that lets you embrace a lot of modern conveniences like digital fridges or Wine Walls. Again, this is a style that really does rely on your commitment to keeping it as clean and tidy as possible in order to work.
Industrial
This is one of the trendiest options out there and is essentially designed to recall that classic New York loft style of property. Exposed brickwork, natural floors and plenty of open space. This is the kind of style that you really need the right property for but if it’s done well it can be one of the coolest and most style ways of designing the interior of any home. It’s the kind of style that brings to mind artists and writers toiling away with a coffee in one hand and the sounds of the city coming in from outside.
Of course, these are just a few of the options available to you when it comes to trying to find the right style for your home. After all, there are so many different styles out there that it would be near impossible to list them all without going on forever! However, it can hopefully give you a sense of just how many options there are for you and that if you haven’t found a way to really bring your home to life, there is almost certainly a style out there waiting for you.
