Whether you are moving into a new home or one someone has lived in before, until it reflects your personality it is just a house and not a home. For some people, it will feel like home in no time at all, but for others, it takes time and planning to make it feel like their own.
Unpack Soon
It is better to unpack your boxes sooner rather than later. It is only when you have your own things around you that the new house you have n=moved into will start to feel like your home. Leaving things sitting around in boxes for months is no use at all, and will be a constant reminder of the home you left behind.
Hang Things
Get some of your favourite pictures and photos onto the walls so that they are not such big blank areas. It may not be the final resting place for them but it is easy enough to move them around later if you want to.
Use The Kitchen
The kitchen can be the hub of any home and if you have just moved into a new build like one of the Redrow Homes, you will probably have a kitchen to be proud of so it makes sense to use it as much as possible. Cooking meals in your new kitchen will make you feel at home in one room at least, and it will not take long of producing meals to make the kitchen feel like yours.

Decorate
Choose the colours you want on the walls and get them decorated as soon as you can. The colour schemes and any décor you undertake will be to your tastes, not the builders or the previous owners. This is part of stamping your mark on a property and will be a big step towards making it feel like home.
Invite Guests
Invite family or friends around to see your new home. It will make you feel proud of what you have achieved and that feeling will become one of love for this new house you have moved into.
There is nothing better than filling a house with chatter and laughter, and nothing else will make it feel like home quicker.
Spend Time There
It might sound a bit obvious but it really works. The more time you spend in a house the sooner it will feel like home. You will learn where the best places to either catch or avoid the sun are, which room in the house gets the best Internet connection and what part of the house you feel the most comfortable in.
It is things like this that really turn a house into a home. Material things are of no consequence, as long as you have the basics such as beds and sofas, the rest can wait. You will appreciate each addition you are able to make, and as you have lived there for a while, will have more idea about what will suit your new home the best.
