First things first, one of the best ways to live a simpler and almost certainly happier life is to go minimalist. That means cutting down on how much stuff you own, and making a point of keeping it to a minimum without getting new stuff all the time. If you struggle to go minimalist, you might want to make it more of a gradual thing. Try to cut down more and more until you have only the real essentials left. You will find that this makes a huge impact on how you feel about your belongings, and you will probably feel happier in no time at all. If you feel able to get rid of a lot in one go, you might want to think about getting a skip bin and just piling it all in until you visibly have much less in your home. However you do it, this kind of minimalism can really make a difference.
Downgrade Your Tech
Most of us are pretty attached to our phones these days. But these technologies, as clever as they are, don’t really do all that much for us which is that helpful. You might actually be surprised at how little you miss your smartphone if you get rid of it or downgrade to a much more basic cell phone. Again, with whatever computer you might have, you will find that downgrading to something more basic will mean that you are less distracted by it, and yet you won’t miss out on much by not having something so essentially simple. Be sure to downgrade all of the tech in your life if you really want to live a much simpler existence.
Calm The Mind
You will find that living more simply is easier and comes naturally if you make a point of calming the mind. A calm, still and clear mind is always going to be a much more salubrious condition for living simply, so make sure that you do whatever is necessary to keep you own mind calm and still. That could be meditation, or a yoga practice, or simply getting enough sleep and exercise. Whatever it takes, a calm mind is a wonderful thing to have.
