Sometimes, we all struggle to find the motivation to get out of bed in the morning. It’d be pretty good to be able to say that every day in our lives was automatically saturated with deep meaning and purpose, but all too often, that isn’t the case unless we choose to make the case.
People look for meaning and purpose in all kinds of different places. Politics, social movements, elaborate hobbies, wild parties, and all the rest.
Well, here’s a thought: if you’re struggling to find a lot of motivation to face the day head-on, how about having as your goal, the “battle against entropy?”
Entropy essentially refers to the tendency of all systems to head towards chaos, over time. Tools such as Newton Waterproofing Systems, are specifically designed to keep the chaos at bay in essential, everyday ways. Because a flood is pretty unwelcome.
Here are a few reasons why focusing on battling against entropy may do you a lot of good.
Things always break down eventually, and they break down a lot sooner if left untended – you could play a key role in holding things together
Things always break down eventually – including, of course, our own bodies.
Suffice to say, if there is something you value in your life – whether it be a physical possession, an intimate relationship, or anything else – it will require work and attention to hold it together.
Realising this, explicitly, and making it a major life goal and part of your identity to fulfil that role of “holding things together” is inherently powerful and worthwhile.
Your life, and the lives of those around you, are going to be better if you are always looking for ways to maintain and cautiously contribute to the systems that exist around you
In all likelihood, you’re not going to just want to try and hold onto what you have in life, but will actually be motivated to find ways to maintain and cautiously contribute to and improve the systems that exist around you.
Why? Well, because your life, and the lives of those close to you, will be better as a result.
Everyone wants to be happier, healthier, and wealthier. And all of that comes automatically, when you focus on positioning yourself against entropy, and seeing what you can do to patch things up.
Because it’s really satisfying and fun seeing just how much you can get your own life together and polished up
Life really is an adventure, in all kinds of extremely significant ways. But for an adventure to really be an adventure, there has to be challenge, reward, and progress.
When you are constantly thinking of ways to polish up and get your own life together, as well as to maintain the systems and things around you, you’re likely to have a pretty good time – maybe even a lot of fun.
It is certainly satisfying seeing just how far you can push things in a positive direction, and just what you can do to set things on a positive track.
