If you sat down and thought really hard about what things in your life about yourself you would change, chances are the list would be longer than 5 things. In the grand scheme of things, that’s quite a lot. But hey, nobody but nobody is perfect. In fact it’s a good thing that you can acknowledge you do need to change some things. But getting up and doing something about those tendencies is another story. It’s a tough challenge to break a habit, even when you consciously know that it’s bad for you. Junk food, little to no exercise, not being punctual with your deadlines at work, being easily frustrated and relying on things that make you feel good but ultimately harm you are just a few things you might be doing. So, you know that you need to change but what’s stopping you. Well, quite a few things actually. It’s not always the case but your lifestyle could be the thing that plants you on rickety rails.
Hours in the day
The day is long and wide. But many people who are in their own tunnel, can’t seem to grasp the fact that they do have plenty of time to do the things they want. What’s stopping them is not having a consistent wake up time. It’s simple yet incredibly effective to just wake up in the morning at the same consistent time. When you wake up too late, you have to rush for work which usually means you miss breakfast. Then, you’re hungry and will eat anything, that includes junk food. Also, if you wake up later you won’t have time to do other things like go for a 15 or 20 minute jog or have a quick session of yoga. Don’t set yourself up for a rush hour that doesn’t stop. Just set yourself a morning wake up time and do anything and everything to stick to it.
In the same place
Like it not, our environment has a lot to do with the way we live our lives. It doesn’t completely shape us, but it pushes and nudges us into a pattern or routine. This can mean that we end up doing the same thing without even noticing it until after the fact. One of these things is when you drink too much and it begins to seep into your normal life and really begin to affect your mood. Not to mention, your health can pay dearly so changing your environment can flip your world the right side up. That’s what ANA Treatment Centre does, because it takes people out of their normal rut and surroundings, and puts them in a totally new place. Here you get the help you need, by having one on one and group therapy sessions where you can learn from each other. Since this is a new place to live, you get to take your mind off things and do a bit of art that expresses what you’re thinking or want to be.
Waking up late is usually due to late nights, which then means long days. Choose an alarm time and stick to it and you’ll see that you don’t need to live life always rushing around.
