Christmas beauty boxes are always some of my favourites. After all the stress that surrounds Christmas, it’s always super nice to receive a box of goodies, just for you. In the December 2018 Look Fantastic Subscription Box, there’s products from some well known brands such as Karl Lagerfeld + ModelCo and Illamaqua, making the £13 a monthly subscription fee 100% worth it in my eyes. Where else could you pay such little for such big brands?
“This award-winning super blend of Chamomile, Lavender and Vetiver is the sleep solution you’ve been looking for! Designed to initiate a deep sleep, the blend encourages a rejuvenating and relaxing slumber. Created using natural oils, this fragrant pillow spray is perfect for those who want to wind down and relax in the evening.
How To Use: Spritz all over your pillow before your get into bed and let the relaxing fragrance send you to sleep!
BB Tips: Lightly spritz over any nightwear for an added relaxing boost.”
I’ve tried a whole bunch of pillow sprays before, including a miniature version of this, and another from LUSH.
My sleeping pattern is all over the place. Always has been, and I’m pretty sure it always will be. Some nights I can’t keep my eyes open past midnight, and others I’ll be tossing and turning until 5am.
I find that using these really help me to drift off, or at least feel a more sleepy earlier on, so I can’t wait to start using this again.
“Infused with Raspberry Seed Oil, this deeply nourishing eye serum will help to smooth and refine the under eye, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The antioxidant properties of the Pomegranate extract brighten skin, leaving your under eyes bright and hydrated.
How To Use: Lightly tap into the under eye area using your ring finger.
BB Tips: Leave this serum in the fridge for an added boost that will help reduce any puffiness!”
I don’t think I’ve ever seen or even heard of an eye serum before. Only creams and gels.
Whilst I don’t have the worst eye bags or lines or worry about, I’m not too sure how well this will compare with a thick, heavy, hydrating cream. The fact it’s a serum also makes this a little bit more trickier to apply. However, I am going to start using this in my everyday skin care routine and see how I get on with it.
“Designed to not only hydrate skin, but to provide long-lasting wear for makeup application, this primer is an essential. It’s unique gel formula nourishes and calms the skin, creating a perfect base for makeup! There’s no surprise that this is a makeup artist favourite.
How To Use: Apply as a primer for a dewy finish.
BB Tips: Mix this with your foundation for an airbrushed finish.”
Recently, I’ve been absolutely loving the BareMinerals Blemish Ready Prep Gel as a primer. I’m not too sure how well it prolongs my base, but I definitely notice it helps to stop acne from appearing under my foundation during the day.
Illamasqua is a brand I’ve heard raved about so much, but I’ve never really properly tried anything from them. I’ve been sent different things from the brand through subscription boxes, but nothing has really ‘stuck’ with me.
This primer sounds absolutely beautiful though, and it sounds perfect for my dry, winter skin!
“Exfoliate and detox your scalp with this intensive Scalp Detox. Ideal for keeping your scalp healthy, use this regularly to avoid product build-up and keep your hair fresh and bouncy. The cooling formula also contains castor oil beads to help improve hair growth and refresh the scalp.
How To Use: Use this as a pre-shampoo treatment to remove build up in the roots.
BB Tips: Part your hair and apply this directly to the scalp for the most effective results!
This sounds right up my street!
I’ve mentioned in the past how I suffer with scalp psoriasis which leaves me with thick, dead skin build up in my hair. Sounds just as good as it looks…
Winter will always be the time when it flares up, and even though I do use special shampoo to help with it, sometimes I feel as if my hair needs a proper good scrub to really help get all the flakey parts off.
Karl Lagerfeld + ModelCo Brow Pencil
“Transform thin brows into full, natural-looking arches with this high pigment brow pencil. The Karl Lagerfeld + ModelCo collection combine ModelCo’s high-quality formulas with Karl Lagerfeld’s artistic aesthetic. Fill in brows with short strokes for natural buildable colour.
How To Use: Fill in your natural shape with this brow pencil in individual brow strokes.
BB Tips: Start filling in the brow in the arch area and gradually move inwards. This will create the most natural look!”
Currently, I have to say filling in my eye brows is one of my favourite parts of my makeup routine.
Usually, I do tend to use a brow pomade from Freedom (now re-branded as ‘Revolution’), but if I’m short on time, I do prefer to use brow pencils and gels. However, I will be keeping this and testing it on the days I wake up a little too late…
Limited Edition Lookfantastic Beauty Sponge
“Use this beauty sponge to apply a wide variety of makeup! From blending your foundation to setting your makeup with a loose power, this sponge is a makeup essential! Designed with both rounded and a flat edge, the sponge is perfect for thoroughly blending your makeup base!
How To Use: Apply your foundation to your face and use the sponge to blend it to perfection!
BB Tips: Use the flat side to apply powder, and the rounded side to ‘bounce’ the foundation into your skin for an airbrushed finish!”
Beauty sponges and blenders will always be my favourite way to apply my base. Every time I’ve tried to go back to a brush, I’ve never been happy with the finish and the streakiness of it.
This Limited Edition Lookfantastic Beauty Sponge is a little firmer than I tend to use (I absolutely adore the Tarte Blending Sponge), but I will be keeping this for the days I’m too lazy to wash my other ones (don’t lie, we all hate cleaning our sponges and brushes).
